Cost of living in Belgrade, Serbia

Living in Belgrade is more affordable than in other European cities, although it depends on each student's lifestyle.

The biggest expense is usually accommodation. A shared room in a private apartment costs between 41,020–46,870 RSD (approx. €350–400) per month, depending on location and amenities. In a student residence, the approximate monthly cost is around 100,190 RSD (approx. €855) for a single room, or 31,640 RSD (approx. €270) per person for a double room.

One very important thing to bear in mind is that public transport in Belgrade is free from January 1, 2025, so you’ll be able to travel around the city at no cost!

When it comes to food, eating out is quite inexpensive. A meal at a budget restaurant costs between 500–900 RSD (approx. €4.30–€7.70). If you prefer to cook, supermarkets offer affordable prices.

Adding up accommodation, food and leisure, it’s estimated that a student can live in Belgrade on a budget of €600-800 per month, depending on their lifestyle.

Belgrade is renowned for its nightlife. The city has a plethora of bars, clubs, and discos, many of which are located on floating boats on the Danube River, known as "splavovi." Places such as Klub 20/44, Kult, and TAG NightClub are popular in the city.

Additionally, the Temple of Saint Sava (Hram Svetog Save), one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world, is a must-see.
