This neighbourhood is part of the University District, also known as Romareda. It’s located southwest of the city centre, and is home to the Plaza San Francisco Campus of the University of Zaragoza. It’s worth noting that this area is also known as “the City”.
It's one of the liveliest areas of the city, making it one of the best neighbourhoods for students in Zaragoza. Its streets are packed with bars and restaurants, and are home to some of the city's nightclubs. In fact, the neighbourhoods around Plaza San Francisco are often preferred by students for nightlife.
In this neighbourhood there are not many cultural visits, but you can reach the historic centre of Zaragoza in no time!
The pretty Grande José Antonio Labordeta Park is very close by and is an ideal place for a walk, exercise, or picnic. This park features monuments, gardens such as the Japanese Garden and the Winter Garden, fountains, and sports centres. It also houses the Ethnology and Ceramics sections of the Museum of Zaragoza.
San Francisco is very well connected to the city centre through tram and bus lines. It also has the Zaragoza-Goya train station.
The city centre is another one of the best neighbourhoods for students in Zaragoza. It’s a very lively area, with lots of activities to do and places to visit.
Here’s the Faculty of Accounting and Finance of the University of Zaragoza, so it’s a convenient area to live for those who are going to study there.
This neighbourhood is full of restaurants, cafes, and bars. Of course, they’re designed for different budgets, so it's a good idea to check which ones are most frequented by students. There are also several nightclubs and cocktail bars in the centre to enjoy a night out.
As far as the cultural offering, here’s the Museum of Natural Sciences of the University of Zaragoza and the famous Patio de la Infanta (a courtyard decorated in a Renaissance style with exhibits). In addition, as it’s located next to the historic centre which was surrounded by a wall, in the centre you can see remains of it, such as the Puerta del Carmen.
In this area is the Miraflores Park, which, although it’s smaller than the Grande José Antonio Labordeta Park, it also provides some spaces for picnics and outdoor walks.
From this neighbourhood you can reach different areas of the city, especially by bus and tram, and it’s also close to the Zaragoza-Goya train station.
Actur is a more modern and relaxed neighbourhood which is located on the other side of the Ebro River from the centre of Zaragoza. It’s quieter than the central areas, but still has a lot to enjoy.
Living in Actur is ideal for students who want to be in a more relaxed area but with easy access to the old town, and for those who are going to study in the Río Ebro Campus of the University.
The most famous tourist site in Actur is probably the Zaragoza Aquarium, but it’s also home to the Mobility Museum called Mobility City and the Zaragoza Congress Palace.
Also, in this neighbourhood some outdoor spaces stand out to enjoy natural areas. One of the most beautiful is the Parque del Agua Luis Buñuel, where you can take walks along the banks of the Ebro River and some canals. There’s also the Parque Fluvial de la Expo 2008 on the riverbank, with beautiful views of the sunset.
Actur is connected to the city's downtown area with tram and bus lines. In fact, you can reach the historic centre in less than 20 minutes.
Located west of the old town, Delicias is a more residential neighbourhood than those mentioned above. However, it has some very lively areas, especially the Calle de las Delicias, a pedestrian street with a lot of shops.
From this neighbourhood, it’s possible to reach the Plaza San Francisco Campus of the University of Zaragoza in a very short time, as well as the departments located in the centre. That's why it's another one of the best neighbourhoods for students in Zaragoza.
In Delicias, the food offer is very wide, with a variety of restaurants, taverns, bars, and cafes. It’s also home to some nightclubs and pubs, as well as karaoke venues.
As for cultural sites, the most notable is the CaixaForum Zaragoza, an exhibition centre in a modernly designed building. There's always something interesting to see! It's also very close to the Palacio de la Aljafería, a historic complex worth visiting.
In this neighbourhood, students enjoy the outdoors in venues such as the de las Delicias Park, the Palomar Castle Park and the Sedetania Park.
The city's central train station, Zaragoza-Delicias, is in the area, and also another one called Zaragoza Portillo. In addition, it’s very well connected to the rest of the city through several bus lines.
There are several areas of the city you can consider, and we recommend checking the location of your faculty so you can find nearby or conveniently accessible housing. Some of the neighbourhoods that are most popular with students each year are: San Francisco, Centro, Actur, and Delicias.
Living in this Spanish city is quite affordable! If you choose affordable accommodation and add food, transportation, and some entertainment costs, you should expect to spend around €600 per month.
It operates primarily with tram and bus lines that connect different parts of the city. It also has important train stations, and some students choose to use bicycles to get from one place to another (you can use "Bizi”, the public bicycle service).
The neighbourhoods with the best atmosphere for students are San Francisco (“the City”), the centre and the historic centre (mainly the area called “el tubo”). These are the areas of the city where there are the most bars and clubs for students.
This varies depending on the campus you want to go to. For example, San Francisco, downtown, and Romareda (in the University District) are convenient if you’re going to study in the Plaza San Francisco Campus, while Actur is the most chosen neighbourhood for those who have to attend classes in the Río Ebro Campus.
